Thermography is the use of an infrared imaging and measurement device to "see" and "measure" thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal or infrared energy, is light which is not visible because its wavelength is too long to be detected by the human eye: it's the part of the electromagnetic spectrum we perceive as "heat".
Nearly everything gets hot before it fails, making infrared inspections extremely cost-effective, valuable diagnostic tools in diverse applications. Commercial and Industrial firms have been using Thermal Imaging for some time to predict which of their critical electrical and mechanical components are likely to fail and to verify their buildings energy efficiency. With the high cost of energy today, homeowners and small business' should also use Thermal Scans for energy savings, moisture detection (leading to mold in some cases), and especially for electrical panel inspections that can detect potential fire hazards from bad connections, overloaded circuits and more.
